Rector's ramblings - December/January 2004-2005

As part of our celebration of All Saints each year the children gather in the third floor Chapel of the Parish House and tell of their favorite Saints. One group decided to tell of the “Saints” that surround them here and now. One told of a grandparent, another her mother, and another said her living Saint was her sister even though they argued a lot!

We are entering the time when we think about and plan to get together with our loved ones and relatives for the holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas. I wonder if we would be wise to look at those who surround us in this life as our own “Saints” even if we don’t always get along. The young lady referring to her sister did so quite realistically and yet rejoiced that, in spite of it all, she was her living Saint of God.

I pray that this holiday season will give us another opportunity to count our blessings, see God at work among those closest to us, and find us all drawn nearer to one another in His love for us all.
