PARISH ACTIVITIES

The Service League
The Service League at Bethesda is a group of parishioners, both men and women, who work together to create an atmosphere of Christian fellowship by sponsoring events and fund raisers during the church year. All funds raised benefit Bethesda in various ways. A very popular event is the Lenten potluck supper and program by Father Parke. Also popular is the Christmas Bazaar as well as various other events , receptions and dinners. All are invited to join. For more information, please call Virginia McMorris at the parish office (518) 584-5980.

The Shepherds
The Shepherds is a group of parishioners who assist the Rector in his pastoral care of the sick, shut-in, and bereaved of the parish. The Shepherds main purpose is to keep and maintain regular contact with those housebound and hospitalized in the parish. They receive altar flowers as well as visits and telephone calls on a regular schedule.

The Altar Guild
The Altar Guild serves at the invitation of the rector and assists the clergy by preparing the sanctuary for worship prior to Sunday and weekday services, weddings, funerals and other special services. The Altar Guild is also responsible for the care of the silver and brass, the altar vessels, the linens, the altar hangings and the vestments.

The Altar Guild provides a means of quietly serving God while enjoying the fellowship of other members of our church family. Members serve on a rotating basis according to a flexible schedule. For further information, please leave a message for Emily Crawford in the parish office at
(518) 584-5980.

Acolytes
Boys and girls who are at least in kindergarten may begin serving on the altar. Children are trained by Bob Bullock and T.J. Pettigrew for specific tasks and the children are frequently paired with more experienced servers until comfortable with their own roles. Acolytes serve on specific Sundays according to the schedule mailed out from the parish office. Acolyte roles grow with each child, and a formal induction service is held every June. Leave a message for TJ at the church office 584-5980

Ushers
